Set in New Zealand’s great outdoors this film tells the story of a young overweight kid Ricky Baker (Julian Dennison) who is left by the welfare services in the countryside with a new set of foster parents. Uncle Hec (Sam Neill) and Aunty Bella (Rima Te Wiata) attempt to win him over but there’s only one way out, to runaway. Uncle Hec is not impressed with him but ends up on a whirlwind adventure, running away from tyrannical welfare servces.
This is a funny, heartwarming, immensely entertaining film set within New Zealand’s stunning landscape.
Trivia:- 1st local feature film to gross more than NZ $1 million in its opening weekend at NZ box office.
