Still Alice (2014)
12A, US, 1hr 41mins, Drama
IMDb rating – 7.5/10
Director – Richard Glatzer & Wash Westmoreland
Actors – Julianne Moore, Alec Baldwin, Kirsten Stewart
This is the story of Linguistics Professor Alice (Julianne Moore) who discovers she has rapidly developed early onset Alzheimers.
The film shows the journey of the woman, her family and her husband (Alec Baldwin).
It's not an easy film to watch, but confronts us through this devastating illness with the fact that Alzheimer's patients are still human beings. Moore's Oscar winning performance is an effectively heart-wrenching piece of work as she slowly transitions from bright, articulate woman into someone who can hardly express a coherent thought.
