Set in mid 1990's Cheryl Strayed (Reese Witherspoon) has lost all hope after the dissolution of her marriage and death of her mother. After years of reckless destructive behaviour, she makes a rash decision, with absolutely no experience driven by sheer determination she hikes more than 1000 miles of the Pacific Crest Trail alone.
Wild captures the terrors and pleasures of one young woman forging ahead against all odds on a journey that maddens, strengthens and ultimately heals her.
Told partly in flashbacks as we journey with her from Southern California to Oregon, with beautiful panoramic views, it is the battle within Strayed which gives her the most problems not the walking.
