The story of Florence Foster Jenkins, a New York heiress who dreamed of becoming an opera singer, despite having a terrible singing voice. Once again real life is stranger than fiction. Meryl Streep gives her usual superb performance singing out of tune.
Hugh Grant came out of semi-retirement to play opposite Meryl Streep giving one of his best performances. Simon Helberg plays the talented pianist hired to accompany Jenkins suffering so he can play the premier venue Carnegie Hall.
Filmed mostly in the UK, Glasgow doubles as streets of 1940s New York, Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum stands in for exterior of the Carnegie Hall and Hammersmith Apollo for the interiors.
