Five year old Saroo (Sunny Pawar) gets lost, falls asleep on a train and finds himself on the streets of Calcutta, thousands of kilometres from home. He survives many challenges before being adopted by an Australian couple (Nicole Kidman & David Wenham). 25 years later as an adult Saroo (Dev Patel) sets out to find his lost family in India.
