After the sudden death of his older brother, Lee (Casey Affleck) is made legal guardian to his nephew Patrick (Lucas Hedges). He then returns to his hometown and is forced to deal with a tragic past that separated him from his family and the community he was born and raised in.
A strong performance by Casey Affleck in this emotional film of trauma, guilt, redemption and familial bonds.
Trivia:- Manchester by the Sea is a real town on the North Shore of Massachusetts. It was called Manchester until 1989 when a campaign led to a change of name.
